Research Specialist A

Job Description Summary
In support of a research project studying the neural basis of decision making in non-human primates, the Research Specialist A will support neurophysiology experiments to record neural activity while the animal performs various decision tasks; assist with experiment set-up and clean-up; provide animal care and enrichment; perform cleaning and maintenance of animal implants and assist with animal training.
Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with the PI/senior personnel to perform neurophysiology experiments to record neural activity while the animal performs various decision tasks.
- Coordinate with the PI/senior personnel to set up experiments and for cleanup after experiments.
- Perform data/record entry and basic data processing.
- Assist with providing animal care and enrichment.
- Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of animal implants.
- Assist with animal training.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Previous experience in animal research and coursework in neuroscience are preferred. Previous exposure to electrophysiology is a plus. The ideal candidate is a post-baccalaureate student interested in pursuing neuroscience-related graduate studies in the future.
Position is contingent upon continued funding.

Pay Range: $44,500.00 - $52,000.00 Annual Rate. Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level. Internal organization and peer data at Penn are also considered.
