Job Description Summary
The Research Specialist A will support ongoing biomedical research focused on human kidney tissue by performing a range of technical and organizational tasks. The specialist will be responsible for collecting and cataloging human kidney tissue samples, including associated clinical and histological data. Key responsibilities include performing genotyping PCR, isolating biomolecules such as RNA, DNA, and proteins, conducting quality control and concentration assessments, and performing microdissection of tissue samples. The specialist will also prepare histological slides through sectioning and staining, assist in data documentation and interpretation, and manage the receipt and shipment of biological samples. Proficiency with basic lab equipment, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills are essential. Additional duties may be assigned as required to support the goals of the research team.
Job Responsibilities
- Collect and organize human kidney tissue samples clinical and histological information and organize samples
- Perform and genotyping PCR
- Isolate RNA, DNA protein or other analyte, QC and measure concentration
- Microdissed human kidney tissue samples
- Prepare histological slides cutting and staining of samples
- Compile and document research results and assist with data interpretation
- Operate computer equipment and collect tabulation of research results
- Send and receive samples
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
