Research Specialist A
Job Description Summary
This Research Specialist is essential for the execution of the TRIDENT grant aims, which involve processing human kidney tissue, molecular profiling, sample tracking, and experimental validation. The technician ensures high-quality biospecimen handling, reproducible molecular assays, and adherence to study timelines. The position directly supports federally funded deliverables.
Job Responsibilities
- Collect and organize human tissue samples, collect clinical and histological information and organize
- Perform and genotyping quantitative PCR
- Isolate RNA and DNA, measure concentration and examine quality
- Microdissect human kidney tissue samples
- Prepare histological slides, cutting and staining of samples
- Compile and document research results and assist in data interpretation
- Operate computer equipment in the collection and tabulation of research results
- Send and receive samples and data interact with collaborators
- Perform genotyping PCR
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- preferably in science, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in a business or academic setting.
- Previous experience or acquaintance with methods used in molecular biology laboratory is a plus, but not required, especially if the individual is ambitious and highly motivated to learn.
This position is contingent upon grant funding.
