Job Description Summary
The Research Specialist will provide high-level administrative and research support. Administrative duties will include managing purchase approvals; ordering and maintaining inventories of lab and office supplies; maintaining stocks of commonly used reagents; maintaining lab safety, including providing regular updates to the lab safety protocols; monitoring equipment and communicating with equipment representatives regarding service and warranties; communicating with and shipping materials to collaborators; managing and overseeing the execution of lab jobs. Research duties will entail assisting in cloning; bacterial, yeast, and mammalian cell culture; protein purification; mouse husbandry and surgery. Candidate must be comfortable in handling mice and be self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision. In addition to performing the tasks listed above, the candidate is highly encouraged to drive a research project forward which will entail planning and troubleshooting experiments as well as collecting, analyzing, and presenting data. This position is contingent upon grant funding.

Complete an independent research project
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently; excellent time-management and organization skills; excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
