Research Specialist I
Overview
The Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics seeks applicants for a Research Specialist I to join the laboratory of Professor Coleen Murphy. Professor Murphy's research is centered on understanding the molecular mechanisms of aging, using the model system C. elegans as well as mammalian tissue culture.
The research specialist will be expected to assist with experiment preparation and execution and perform general lab support duties.
Salary will include the full benefits package. This is a one-year term position, with the possibility of renewal based on available funding and satisfactory performance. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University.
Responsibilities
Specific duties:
- Prepare media and reagents, make solutions and stocks, and pour plates for general lab use.
- Maintain media inventory.
- Assist lab members with experiments.
- Assist with other lab duties and projects as assigned.
- Participate in lab group meetings.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology or a relevant field is required.
- At least one year of lab research experience is required.
- Basic computer skills and some familiarity with databases are required.
- Must be able to work well with others and provide support to other projects.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and flexibility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must have a strong attention to detail and maintain meticulous records.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with basic molecular biology is preferred.
