Research Specialist II

Overview

A Research Specialist position is available in the Princeton Neuroscience Institute at Princeton University. The Falkner lab (https://www.falknerlab.com/) focuses on neural circuit dynamics in subcortical circuits during social behavior. We are looking for an experienced research specialist to manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including animal husbandry (e.g. assist lab members with mouse breeding) and work with the researchers to design and perform experiments. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and hard-working individual.

This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal contingent upon funding availability and performance.

Responsibilities

  • manage lab operations, including:
    • lab protocols and recordkeeping practices
    • preparations for inspections (IACUC and AALAC)
  • manage mouse colony
  • assist researchers with experiments and data analysis
  • undertake individual research projects
  • other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) in Neuroscience or related field plus 2+ years of wetlab experience
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience with mice and running rodent behavior including animal husbandry
  • Experience with methods in computational neuroscience.
  • Proficient with programming in Python and/or Matlab.
