Research Teaching Specialist IV

Position Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist IV for the department of Psychiatry at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Teaching Specialist IV will assist the Principal Investigator in managing clinical and health services research studies focused on substance use and health. This work will include submitting and managing human subjects activities, supervising other study staff, submitting IRB applications, working with a scientific team, tracking study participant engagement, preparing reports, and interacting with study participants. will work with the principal investigator and other members of the research team to oversee research and clinical tasks are conducted with rigor and in alignment with institute and funding agency requirements.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Assists in the establishment of performance standards, as well as in the selection of methodology and instrumentation.
• Assists in conducting a continuous program of research and development. Evaluates existing procedures and proposes modifications or changes in order to keep the methodology and procedures current.
• As assigned, performs various research and technical procedures.
• Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, technicians and laboratory assistants as required.
• Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments. May be required to compile data and present results.
• Submits purchase recommendations, to his/her supervisor, of equipment and supplies.

Minimum Education and Experience

Master's Degree in a relevant science, or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science plus one (1) year of related research experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment: Office (dry lab) environment. Moderate noise.
