Research Technician
The laboratory of Roger Belizaire, MD, PhD, is a team of research investigators at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Our laboratory uses a range of molecular and cell biological techniques to elucidate the molecular basis of cancer and hematologic disorders and to develop novel therapeutics. A full-time Research Technician position is available.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform experiments, which may be moderate to complex with increasing independence.
- Record data and analyze results using basic statistics.
- Maintain and perform experiments using cells in tissue culture.
- Help prepare presentations and written articles for publication.
- Prepare laboratory reagents, chemicals and instruments, and maintain equipment.
- Maintain supplies inventory in accordance with departmental procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
B.A./B.S. required: significant biological/physical science coursework preferred. Experience with techniques in sterile tissue culture, molecular biology, cell biology, protein biochemistry, and/or computational biology is desirable.
SKILLS / ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- High degree of computer literacy
- Sound analytical and organizational skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Logical and effective task management and prioritization skills
- Ability to identify potential problems and troubleshoot solutions
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The individual in this position will work under supervision and independently as part of the investigative team in the Belizaire Lab at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The wet lab environment will include work at the bench and in the tissue culture hood with appropriate personal protective equipment; there will also be occasional work with toxic and biohazardous substances in a fume or laminar flow hood with appropriate personal protective equipment.
