Research Technician

Position Summary:
The Kim lab in the UNC McAllister Heart Institute is seeking a Research Technician. The lab uses molecular, genetic, and cellular techniques to examine the contribution of endothelial cell metabolism in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate to gain research experience before they start a graduate program.

Responsibilities:
- The Research Technician will assist with organizing and maintaining the lab. (e.g. preparation of lab stock solutions, autoclave, lab maintenance, and inventorying/ordering chemicals, samples, and supplies)
- The Research Technician will assist the PI and lab members with their experiments and also run experiments independently as they get trained. The techniques likely to be used include human endothelial cell culture, dissection of mouse tissues including blood vessel, immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, qPCR, western blot, and microscopic imaging.
- The Research Technician will assist with managing the mouse colony (eg.. genotyping)
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences:
- Course work in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field
- Laboratory experience with molecular biology techniques and/or mouse work
