This is an opportunity to join a new laboratory team that is working to design, optimize, and validate a next-generation sequencing (NGS) assay for detection of molecular residual disease (MRD) in acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

The Research Technician III/IV will be responsible for design and implementation of major experimental projects essential to the laboratory's scientific research goals. They have developed an extensive and specialized knowledge of the scientific principles, concepts and technology related to the laboratory's research. They will evaluate the effectiveness of specific methods and procedures for particular projects. Independence and creativity are expected. They will help prepare scientific papers and presentations.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Execute error-corrected NGS assay development and validation experiments in the laboratory. Document all work in electronic laboratory notebooks and databases.
  • Maintain high standards of laboratory cleanliness, organization, and contamination control.
  • Be responsible for the daily operation of the laboratory.
  • Collaborate with the Principle Investigator and senior project team and take an active role in designing experiments.
  • Demonstrate creative scientific thinking and a deep technical understanding of the underlying principles.
  • Summarize and write for publication or presentation the results of research projects.
  • Draft SOPs.
  • Conduct literature reviews to assist in determining the most suitable methods to be used in research, including appropriate experimental controls.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Research Technician III:

  • Bachelor's degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework (or equivalent combination of advanced degree and work experience)

Research Technician IV:

All minimum qualifications of Research Technician III, plus:

  • 8 years of related work experience (or equivalent combination of advanced degree and work experience)
  • Proven ability and knowledge necessary to conduct research independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Research Technician III:

  • Experience operating Illumina sequencers
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex multi-variable experiments
  • Experience with assay development and customization, including different reagent formulations
  • Experience running error-corrected NGS assays, including hybrid capture

Research Technician IV:

  • Experience preparing and analyzing DNA mutation standards
  • Experience with error-corrected NGS assay development, including experiment design and mutation analysis

Research Technician III: The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,172 to $104,250, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Research Technician IV: The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,475 to $120,682, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
