Research Technician
The Opportunity
This post represents an exciting opportunity for a new team member to join the Lab of Dr Muriel Desbois in Keele University’s School of Life Sciences to support ongoing research into axon morphology maintenance in C. elegans.
The successful candidate will oversee the maintenance of C. elegans laboratory stocks and essential reagents, ensuring day-to-day operation of the research lab. There is an opportunity for the post holder to be trained and conduct a wide range of laboratory experiments, including genetic crosses, forward genetic screens, microscopy-based analyses, behavioural assays, and molecular biology techniques. In addition, they will analyse experimental data, prepare results for discussion with the Principal Investigator, and contribute to presentations at internal meetings and potentially at scientific conferences.
You will have a master's degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant area such as neuroscience, genetics, microscopy. Experience in working with/rearing insects is essential. Good knowledge of genetics/molecular background is also desirable. You will be able to demonstrate substantial capacity to work independently, problem solve, provide close attention to detail and operate collaboratively/cooperatively within a dynamic team environment.
