CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE HIRING OF A RESEARCHER FOR THE BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH FOUNDATION OF THE PUERTA DE HIERRO UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL. 2026-37
The Biomedical Research Foundation of the Puerta de Hierro University Hospital is the managing body of the Puerta de Hierro University Hospital Research Institute, IDIPHISA.
Being part of IDIPHISA offers the opportunity to carry out biomedical research activities under conditions of quality and excellence, in the field of clinical and translational research, nationally and internationally. Currently, IDIPHISA has 5 research areas and 43 research groups.
JOB OFFER
The Biomedical Research Foundation of the Puerta de Hierro University Hospital calls for applications for a Researcher position for the Cardiology group, with the category of Higher Graduate (titulado/a superior), Professional Group II, for functional area 2 scientific-technical (MECES 3. EQF7).
The Heart Failure and Inherited Cardiomyopathies research group is made up of 15 researchers and is mainly dedicated to the study of the genetic bases and treatments of patients with heart failure, inherited cardiomyopathies, and amyloidosis. It is a consolidated IDIPHIM group with continuous competitive international and national funding and prominent publications in leading international cardiovascular journals, including Circulation, Eur Heart J, J Am Coll Cardiol, The Lancet, and N Engl J Med. It develops and leads independent academic studies, as well as participating in commercial clinical studies at IDIPHIM.
This contract is funded by the grant/project "Cerebral microstrokes: new model and treatment opportunities", funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities, under file number PID2022-1410800B-C21, funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities, whose objective is to evaluate the neuroregenerative role of Betacellulin in preclinical models of ischemic stroke.
Being part of this project will provide experience in the area of cell biology, 3D imaging, microscopy, molecular biology, animal models, as well as experience in skills such as the preparation of papers, seminars, and oral presentations. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team with broad experience in the field.
The activities to be carried out are those established in the description of the aforementioned project.
TASKS / FUNCTIONS TO BE PERFORMED:
- Immunohistochemistry studies.
- Tissue processing.
- Confocal and SPIM microscopy.
- Cell cultures.
- Animal handling. Administration of substances, tissue extraction, etc.
- Image analysis.
- Preparation of presentations and seminars.
- Western-Blot.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Essential requirements:
- Higher Graduate Degree (Titulado/a superior) in Biomedical Sciences: Pharmacy, Biology, Biochemistry, etc.
- University Degree (Licenciado/a or Bachelor's Degree) with an official Master's degree, totaling 300 or more credits.
- Possession of a Master's degree in the field of Biomedicine.
Other merits to be evaluated:
- Experience in cell biology and imaging techniques will be valued.
- Good level of spoken and written English, equivalent to Cambridge C1 level.
- Experience in animal handling will be especially valued.
- Holding Category C and D animal experimentation certificates will be valued.
CONTRACT CONDITIONS
- The contract modality is indefinite scientific-technical (indefinido científico-técnico).
- The estimated duration of the tasks to be performed is approximately 9 months.
- The duration of the contract is subject to: a) The completion or termination of the project or phase/work package to which the contract is linked. b) The completion or exhaustion of the economic resources assigned to said project. c) The termination or extinction of the specific funding line assigned to hiring staff within said project.
- The salary remuneration is €2,910.60/month, as established in the Collective Agreement for the Group of Companies of Biomedical Research Foundations of the Health Institutions of SERMAS.
- The dedication will be full-time at 37.5 hours per week (according to the collective agreement) and participation in another project will not be permitted.
- The workplace is at the Hospital Universitario Puerta de Hierro de Majadahonda.

Candidates must hold the required qualification on the date of publication of this call.
Candidates with qualifications obtained abroad must accredit the official recognition (homologación) of the degree or, where appropriate, the corresponding certificate of equivalence issued by the competent body.
The deadline for submitting applications is September 25, 2026, at 15:00 hours.

EVALUATION AND SELECTION PROCESS
Applications that meet the requirements and are submitted within the deadline of the call will be examined by an evaluation committee consisting of three members (a chair and two members), who must hold, at least, the same qualification level as required in the call. One of the members may be substituted by HR personnel if considered appropriate by the Principal Investigator (PI).
Following the recommendation for action of the Equality Plan, participation in the evaluation panels must be gender-balanced to the extent possible, and its members will follow the recommendations and measures contained in said Plan to reduce gender impact, having received appropriate training for its implementation.
In accordance with the European Commission's OTM-R code of conduct for the recruitment of researchers, the recruitment process follows general principles and requirements to ensure respect for values, process transparency, and equal treatment for all applicants.

The Curriculum Vitae will be evaluated together with the merits indicated above. Only candidates who meet the minimum requirements established in the call will be admitted for processing.
The selection system will consist of the following phases:
- Phase A - Evaluation of Merits (maximum 60 points):
The maximum score that can be awarded for the evaluation of the different merits will be 60 points, which will be the sum of the scores obtained in each section:- Training: Up to a maximum of 20 points.
- Experience: Up to a maximum of 20 points.
- Specific Requirements: Up to a maximum of 20 points.
To pass Phase A and move on to Phase B (interviews), candidates must obtain a score equal to or greater than 30 points. - Phase B - Evaluation of Aptitudes and Interview (maximum 40 points):
The interview will cover any aspect related to the applicant's curriculum and the position to be filled.
To pass Phase B, candidates must obtain a score equal to or greater than 20 points.
During the evaluation, subjective parameters must also be considered, such as a potentially valuable contribution to the candidates' professional development—especially in the case of researchers—towards a multidimensional career path, such as career breaks or chronological variations in curricula vitae, etc.
Once the application deadline has ended, the provisional list of applicants admitted to Phase A and passing to Phase B (interview) will be made public through the publication of the corresponding list on the FIBHUPH website: https://investigacionpuertadehierro.com/empleo-y-formacion/. Once the interviews are completed, the final resolution of the selected candidate will be published through the same channel.
If a candidate fails to provide part of the required documentation, a period of 3 calendar days will be granted for its amendment (subsanación), counting from the date of the request.

If the selected candidate waives the position before formalizing the contract, the PI may propose the next candidate on the list who meets the essential requirements and has obtained the score established in the call.
In the event of incidents, the evaluation committee will submit the evaluation results and the resolution proposal to the Board of Trustees (Patronato).
