Position Highlights

The Department of Immunobiology is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to conduct innovative research in liver-related regenerative medicine. This position is open for a person with prior post-doctoral-level training in stem cell biology or a related field with an interest in research involving pluripotent stem cell differentiation into mature liver cell types and development of extracellular matrix-based scaffolds and organoids. The ideal candidate will work with other lab members to collaboratively develop engineered tissue constructs and assist with other projects as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares analysis for research reports and conducts literature review.
  • Identifies and recommends solutions to identifiable problems to PI and research leadership.
  • Collaborates with research leadership in the development of grant applications and preparation of reports of research results, including data for summaries, reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Train undergraduate students, medical students, and graduate students in equipment operation and research techniques.
  • Independently perform experiments, interpret data, and analyze results.
  • Collaborates with team on developing protocols to differentiate cells into hepatocyte cells and organoids.
  • Assay functionality of differentiated tissue in 3D scaffolds.
  • Help create 3D bio-engineered scaffolds made from extracellular matrix tissue.
  • Develop and establish functional timelines to complete assigned work to meet the requirements of the research obligations.
  • Contribute and participate in authorship of research publications, presentations and grant applications.
  • Collect, analyze and graph data, conclude research projects in a timely manner, and write reports and grants.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and writing skills for manuscript, grant submissions, publications, federal annual reports, and lab meetings.
