Position Highlights

The Space Imagery Center at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory is seeking a Researcher to support the creation and implementation of interactive touchscreen exhibits that showcase the science and history of space exploration. In this role, the Researcher will develop, write, and refine engaging educational content that is both accessible to visitors and scientifically accurate. The position also includes collaborating with external vendors and configuring exhibit hardware and software to ensure each display is functional, intuitive, and delivers a high-quality visitor experience.

This position is eligible for a hybrid workweek and a flexible schedule.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on researching and writing educational content on space exploration topics, synthesizing scientific concepts and historical narratives for a general audience.
  • Edit and revise content based on feedback to ensure accuracy, clarity, and audience engagement.
  • Maintain documentation of technical processes and content development for future reference and updates.
  • Install, configure, and test interactive software and digital exhibit content on touchscreen displays working with the PI, and identify and recommend solutions to identifiable problems.
  • Coordinate with touchscreen display vendors to obtain technical specifications and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of space exploration history and/or physical sciences.
  • Skills in research and writing, with the ability to translate complex scientific and historical topics for general audiences.
  • Skills in organization and attention to detail to support accurate and efficient project execution.
  • Skills in verbal communication for effectively coordinating with external vendors.
  • Skills in written communication, with experience crafting content for non-specialist audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple project components simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • One year of relevant work experience required.
  • Experience in science communication, museum studies, history of science, physics, astronomy, or a related field.

FLSA: Non-Exempt
