Procurement and Sourcing Specialist

The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret, and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education, and exhibition.

The Procurement department is seeking a full-time Procurement and Sourcing Specialist to support the procurement of supplies, goods, and services by the Museum. The Specialist supports the management of Museum procurement, focusing on strategic sourcing support which could include negotiating contracts; optimizing costs, quality, and delivery for essential goods/services; and managing key supplier relationships to ensure organizational goals are met.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the sourcing process, including sourcing new suppliers, providing data analysis, analyzing bids, and general Request for Proposal (RFP) process support.
  • Assist in transactional, routine procurement activities for the acquisition of goods/services in accordance with procurement policies, standard practices, and sound business practices.
  • Review and process purchasing requests such as purchase requisitions and purchase orders for goods or services, ensuring compliance with the Museum's procurement procedures and user requirements.
  • Assist in managing the Museum's Procurement programs, including with Amazon, Uber, the P Card, and Concur, including handling reporting, analysis, maintenance, spot audits, compliance, and training.

The expected salary range for the Procurement and Sourcing Specialist is $77,000/annual - $85,000/annual. The AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.

Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization, and depth and scope of experience.
