The Resource Sharing Specialist is responsible for processing interlibrary loan and document delivery requests, providing skillful customer service to library patrons and external partners and ensuring compliance with accessibility requirements for content provided via Resource Sharing services. Duties: - Accurately and efficiently process interlibrary loan and document delivery requests from UH patrons and external resource sharing partners, primarily focused on borrowing workflows for Resource Sharing services. - Apply multiple search techniques across a variety of databases to resolve complex interlibrary loan requests. - Serve as the primary point of contact for the Resource Sharing unit, providing excellent customer service to UH patrons and partner libraries. - Work with colleagues to identify workflow improvements and assist with creating and maintaining documentation related to Resource Sharing services. - Ensure that Resource Sharing services meet national and state requirements for document accessibility. Work with colleagues to train and assist student workers in accessibility remediation tasks. - Assist department team members and student workers with preparing materials for shipping, receiving borrowed and returned materials, and routing materials internally as appropriate on an as-needed basis. - Understand and apply knowledge of internal policies and other relevant external interlibrary loan guidelines and agreements. - Troubleshoot minor Resource Sharing system errors and patron-reported issues. - Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with customer service - Experience providing interlibrary loan and document delivery services - Experience in using library systems, such as Ex Libris Alma Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Excellent communication skills and attention to detail - Adaptability and flexibility in managing tasks to meet changes in procedures, processes, and technology - Sound judgement, as well as strong problem-solving and decision-making skills - Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and to cooperate with colleagues across departments Directly relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education. MQ: Requires the ability and knowledge for analysis and interpretation of procedures, policies and practices attainable through specific education and/or training programs in a specialty or technical field. Advanced vocational or electronic skills or a basic knowledge of a professional field is required. An Associate's degree or certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months and up to 3 years duration are characteristic of this field. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
