Reunion Giving Officer
Overview
Yale University is seeking a dynamic and strategic Reunion Giving Officer to join the university’s Alumni Affairs and Development division. Reporting to the Director of Reunion Giving, the Reunion Giving Officer solicits gifts from Yale College alumni during their quinquennial reunions and manages alumni volunteers for several assigned reunion classes. Operating in a comprehensive, university-wide fundraising environment, the Reunion Giving Officer achieves annual fundraising goals tied to specific reunion classes and ensures the overall success of their assigned classes in a multitude of impactful ways. The Reunion Giving Officer position is an ideal opportunity for a high-performing, strategic, and collaborative development professional. Key duties include supporting the university’s highest-level donors, volunteers, and university citizens; developing, partnering, and executing on solicitation strategies for donors; building relationships with volunteers via trainings and briefings; and facilitating gift conversations between prospects, volunteers, and university leaders.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability to directly manage volunteers. Skilled in developing and implementing effective strategies to recruit and train volunteers on solicitation techniques and university messaging and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a complex environment.
- Proven ability to personally and consistently close philanthropic gifts from donors. Commitment to utilizing industry standard fundraising best practices and valuing a donor-centric approach. Demonstrated ability collaborating with colleagues to determine donor philanthropic interests and the ability to promote various giving vehicles which may include planned giving.
- Professionalism, maturity, and a collaborative approach to work, with the ability to maintain confidentiality. Flexible team member and willingness to work some irregular hours and commitment to an inclusive workplace.
- Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills and proficiency working with technology. Ability to manage diverse, simultaneous tasks while attending to details and follow-through and work well under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Initiative and ability to work independently with integrity while demonstrating a results-oriented work ethic.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with alumni volunteers and colleagues about fundraising priorities, giving procedures, and university business and the ability to initiate and maintain direct communication with alumni.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
Experience in a reunion fundraising program in higher education or another nonprofit organization, familiarity with planned giving tools and techniques, experience and comfort navigating a fundraising database and a valid driver's license.

Principal Responsibilities
- Organizes and coordinates fundraising efforts. 2. Develops strategic fundraising programs, sets participation and dollar goals, and manages processes of screening and rating alumni. 3. Provides ongoing support for chairs and committee members. 4. Identifies, recruits, trains, briefs and motivates committee members. 5. Staffs and attends committee meetings. 6. Facilitates ongoing communications between class-based volunteers involved in capital fundraising and development officers. 7. Personally participates in fundraising conversations. 8. Initiates and oversees all class-wide gift mailings. 9. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a related field and four years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
