  • Location: Gardens Point (hybrid option available)
  • Open to: The position is open to current staff members of QUT who have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the fixed-term appointment. In support of our strategic priority of Indigenous Australian success, Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islander people who are not QUT staff are also eligible and encouraged to apply. Please note that current staff wishing to be considered for secondment to this position must seek prior approval from their supervisor before submitting an application.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a School Manager to join School of Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations, Faculty of Business and Law.

The School Manager is part of a dedicated team of senior administrative staff within the Faculty of Business and Law supporting the Head of School with the management of school operations and, in doing so, facilitating the achievement of the Faculty’s strategic goals in teaching, research and external engagement. The position has administrative responsibility for the following school activities: Governance, Strategic and operational planning, Services and support, Resource management (human, financial, physical, information technology), External engagement; and The operations of the Head of School office The School Manager works collaboratively with the Head of School, senior academic leaders, staff within the school and across the faculty and university, and with external stakeholders. The incumbent will maintain links with other School Managers and Faculty Team Managers to ensure a high standard of client service is delivered across the faculty.

What you need to succeed

  1. Education, training or relevant experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience and management experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  2. Demonstrated experience in financial management and budgeting.
  3. Demonstrated ability to display initiative, critically evaluate current systems and processes and contribute new ideas to achieve ongoing improvements in the provision of services at strategic and operational
  4. Demonstrated experience in engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including industry and community groups.
  5. High level written communication skills, and experience in preparing clear and concise reports, plans and complex correspondence using a variety of digital
  6. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and collaborate with varied groups, work effectively in teams, and encourage client focus in other staff
  7. High level ability to manage time and tasks effectively and meet a range of competing deadlines in a timely manner without compromising quality.
