Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a School Manager to join School of Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Health.

The School Manager is part of a dedicated team of senior administrative staff within the Faculty of Health supporting the Head of School with the management of school operations and, in doing so, facilitating the achievement of the Faculty’s strategic goals in teaching, research and external engagement. The position has administrative responsibility for the following school activities: • Governance • Strategic and operational planning • Services and support • Resource management (human, financial, physical, information technology) • External engagement; and • The operations of the Head of School office The School Manager works collaboratively with the Head of School, senior academic leaders, staff within the school and across the faculty and university, and with external organisations and stakeholders. The incumbent will maintain links with other School Managers and Faculty Team Managers to ensure a high standard of client service is delivered across the faculty. This position reports to the Head of School for career planning, development, and performance expectations.

The School of Clinical Sciences is developing the future of clinical healthcare, from training the next generation of industry professionals to undertaking crucial research into key areas in the clinical sciences. The School of Clinical Sciences is composed of six distinct disciplines; medical radiation sciences, optometry, paramedicine, pharmacy, podiatry, and radiation therapy. Each deliver courses that provide real-world clinical experience taught by contemporary, practicing healthcare professionals..

What you need to succeed

  1. Education, training or relevant experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience and management experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  2. Demonstrated experience in financial management and budgeting.
  3. Demonstrated ability to display initiative, critically evaluate current systems and processes and contribute new ideas to achieve ongoing improvements in the provision of services at strategic and operational levels.
  4. Demonstrated experience in engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including industry and community groups.
  5. High level written communication skills, and experience in preparing clear and concise reports, plans and complex correspondence using a variety of digital technologies.
  6. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and collaborate with varied groups, work effectively in teams, and encourage client focus in other staff members.
  7. High level ability to manage time and tasks effectively and meet a range of competing deadlines in a timely manner without compromising quality.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
