School of Medicine - Open Rank/Tenure - Medicine - Infectious Disease

Job Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham seeks to fill up to six positions in the renowned Department of Medicine/Infectious Diseases (ID) Division. Rank and tenure status will be determined based on qualifications. Salary and start-up package are negotiable. Positions are available for both PhDs and Board eligible MDs.

UAB, the Department of Medicine, and the Division of ID are leaders in medical research and NIH funding. Interdisciplinary collaborations between basic and clinical faculty are a strong suit of UAB. We offer a well-developed infrastructure for cross-cutting research in inflammation, infection, and immunity. The faculty positions we seek to fill are by candidates with a variety of skill sets and outstanding track record of accomplishments in ID. Priority will be given to those with expertise in infections in immunocompromised hosts (including transplant recipients), global health and travel/tropical medicine, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections, and other diverse areas of ID including HIV, bacterial pathogenesis, infection prevention, and antimicrobial resistance. Responsibilities attendant to these faculty positions will likely involve some combination of the elements above. Depending on applicants' credentials, qualifications, and interests, participation in general ID and/or HIV specialty care (inpatient consults, outpatient clinic) will be defined. Candidates will complement our clinical, research, and educational activities, participating in our ongoing work or developing new areas of emphasis.
