Scientific Officer in Chronic Metabolic Diseases in the Department of Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine and the State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (Ref.: 533091)

Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflows and compliance with safety and institutional regulations
- Support research on chronic metabolic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), including experimental design, data analysis, and maintenance of specialized equipment
- Contribute to grant applications, scientific publications, and foster collaborations with academic and industry partners
- Lead business development initiatives, including identifying funding opportunities, facilitating technology transfer, and establishing partnerships to translate research findings into commercial or clinical applications
- A 5.5-day workweek is required.
Requirements
- A Ph.D. degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline
- Exceptional organizational, technical, and communication skills, with the ability to integrate scientific expertise and strategic thinking in a dynamic research environment
- A strong sense of responsibility, with the ability to work independently, collaboratively, and under pressure within a multidisciplinary team

What We Offer
The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis or 2- to 3-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
