Main duties and responsibilities

The Sustainable Development Goal Coordinator will be a key member of the United Nations Academic Impact SDG Hub team at DMU and is responsible for planning and co-ordinating activities across a range of projects, and themes, working to support engagement in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), at DMU. The post-holder will be responsible for helping to deliver activities across a range of projects, and themes, working to support engagement in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through teaching, research and civic impact.

Faculty/Directorate

The United Nations Academic Impact Hub Chair for Sustainable Development Goal 11 is a unit based in the directorate of Executive, Governance and Legal Services. The Climate Action Co-ordinator will be a key member of the Sustainable Development Goal 11 Hub Chair (SDG Hub) team at DMU. The hub is based in Heritage House at De Montfort University, Leicester, along with colleagues from across the University.

Role

The Sustainable Development Goal Hub Co-ordinator will work closely with the hub’s manager and associate director as well as the DMU LEAF Climate Action Officer and co-ordinator, and DMU’s Education for Sustainable Development academic lead to lead projects that impact the UN SDGs. The postholder will be based within the DMU Sustainable Development Goal Hub in Heritage House on the university campus.

Ideal candidate

Working as part of a team, the post holder will support activities from planning through to delivery, including stakeholder engagement, data gathering for reporting requirements for a variety of stakeholders including the United Nations and the Times Higher Impact Rankings. The role also involves creating communications and marketing materials, supporting PR activity, and helping promote opportunities to diverse communities and across DMU’s faculties, including student volunteering. The post holder will assist the Associate Director, ESD academic lead, and UNAI SDG Hub in the development of new initiatives and research projects. They will liaise with community partners, DMU academics, students, and external stakeholders to maintain positive relationships and ensure broad participation and acting as a point of contact for queries.

The salary for this role will be at the bottom of the salary grade/band.
