The Department of Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a full-time faculty member to serve as Section Chief at the rank of Professor, to serve as an experienced surgeon and lead the Surgical Oncology Program in Augusta, Georgia. The candidate will also hold an administrative post as the Surgical Director of the Georgia Cancer Center. We are particularly interested in candidates with either a special interest or training in Breast, Soft Tissue and Melanoma, or GI Oncology. The selected candidate can expect the ability to participate in research studies and work with our general surgery residents. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Required Qualifications

MD, DO, or equivalent. Successful completion of surgical oncology fellowship. Board Certified in General Surgery, with additional fellowship training in Surgical Oncology and demonstrated success in programmatic development. Minimum of seven years of experience.

Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

• Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
• Evidence of ability as a teacher;
• Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
• Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
• Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified in Complex General Surgical Oncology and Academic Medical Teaching

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
