Security Manager

This position reports to the Director of Campus Security and Protective Services. Responsible for delivering and maintaining security services to Central Campus and other locations as needed. Serves as functional manager for security personnel including student assistants, Security Officers, Campus Protection Officers and Security Supervisors. Responsible for maintaining excellent customer relations and providing the security services requested. Assists the Director of Central Campus Security Services with strategic planning, establishing divisional goals and initiatives, and developing and implementing divisional policies and procedures. Advises the Director of Campus Security and Protective Services on personnel and operational issues. Assists with developing divisional shift bids. Ensures performance management process for staff is followed. Manages student development and assists with divisional training needs. Develops and performs security surveys and evaluates campus security issues as assigned. Represents the Division on committees and in meetings. Tracks and reports on operational metrics for the division. Manage inventory requests and procurement processes. Responsible for divisional fleet. Manages brass key needs for the department of Public Safety. Assists in the hiring process of divisional personnel.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree may be desirable. 5 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education in business management, criminal justice or other similar field required.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in business management and/or operations.
  • One (1) year of recent experience as a supervisor required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in public safety.
  • Strategic or long-range planning experience desired.
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures is strongly desired.
  • Experience working with Workday and Smartsheet desired.
  • Knowledge of security management procedures, practices and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing required.
  • Experience working with automated timekeeping systems.
  • Must maintain CPR/AED certification during employment.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license is or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hiring.
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

Unusual Working Conditions

Subject to 24-hour call in. Days and hours may vary. May work weekends. May be required to work high profile events that occur on campus. In accordance with the Emergency Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17, this position is designated as an Essential position for both Weather or Other Short-Term Closings and a University State of Emergency (long-term closing).

Targeted salary for this position is $83,835.71
