Thursday through Sunday, 7:00PM - 5:30AM.
This schedule may vary due to operational needs around holiday breaks and during the summer.

Job Description:

The Dispatcher is a full-time staff member who reports to the Transportation Manager. This position will work with our Transportation drivers, mostly the On-Demand drivers as they transport Syracuse University students from campus to a location or a location to campus. This person will work closely with all the Transportation and Parking management team, the Transportation drivers, our Department of Public Safety (DPS) Team, and our students. This person must have excellent customer services skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task is required. The person will dispatch between drivers, students, and DPS, will inspect vehicles, will complete audits, will submit work-orders, will work on schedules on the computer along with other various tasks.

Education and Experience:

• Two-year degree or similar in transportation dispatch or logistics.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Proficiency in dispatching.
• Knowledge of transportation services.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.
• Must be able to learn and retain information quickly.
• Willingness to work as part of a team.
• Able to work weekends and special events.

Responsibilities:

• The Transportation Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating the scheduling, routing, and tracking of the transportation vehicles to ensure timely and efficient delivery of students to their set location.
• Dispatch calls to drivers, troubleshoot phone calls from students and DPS.
• Troubleshoot delays and maintenance issues. Process work orders for maintenance.
• Review and submit billed service requests which include phone calls, emails and Maximo requests.
• Decipher information provided and seek out additional information as needed to process the Grocery shuttle schedule and other shuttle request.
• Interact with campus partners and students to provide the best information and service.
• Other duties as assigned.
