Senior Case Manager, Work Injury Management

About This Opportunity

The Senior Case Manager, Work Injury Management plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, compliant and timely workers’ compensation claims management services within UQ’s self-insured environment. As part of the Health, Safety and Wellness team, you will manage a portfolio of physical and psychological injury claims while contributing to continuous improvement, regulatory compliance and sustainable return-to-work outcomes across a large and complex organisation.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of statutory and common law workers’ compensation claims in accordance with the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 and Queensland Regulator Performance Standards
  • Investigating, determining and documenting claims, including preparation of detailed correspondence, submissions and reasons for decision for complex matters
  • Coordinating rehabilitation providers, medical specialists and investigators to facilitate safe and timely return-to-work outcomes
  • Providing coaching and mentoring within the team and supporting the Senior Self Insurance Manager, including relieving management duties as required

About You

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 and the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Regulations 2025
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex statutory and common law workers’ compensation claims from determination to finalisation
  • Meet the criteria for recognition as a statutory claims officer with WCRS
  • Advanced analytical and investigative skills with the ability to exercise sound professional judgement
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and advocacy on sensitive matters
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capability
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including coaching and mentoring
  • Experience preparing complex claims management reports
