Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Faculty Affairs, this position independently performs a variety of compensation functions for temporary faculty (including librarians, counselor faculty, and coaches) and TA/GA/ISA appointments salary increase programs; summer term appointments; faculty additional employment; compensation analysis/reports; range elevation; and other faculty affairs duties as assigned. The incumbent plans, researches, documents; implements, and trains users on solutions for related Faculty Affairs business practices and processes within the integrated suite of business applications such as PeopleSoft and CHRS. The incumbent serves as a lead to the Faculty Affairs Employment Analysts and a compensation contact person in Faculty Affairs for colleges and departments.
This position also provides strategic program support involving a variety of employee and labor relations functions within FA. This role grants the incumbent access to management's strategies and positions on collective bargaining negotiations at CSU Long Beach.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and approve temporary faculty and TA/GA/ISA appointments (including resignations/service retirement).
- Communicates with colleges and departments to resolve errors and missing documentation.
- Verify PTFs for completeness and accuracy of salary and employment information and documentation and provide additional data needed.
- Review and verify curriculum course list by colleges.
- Enter and analyze data in the summer session module.
- Review technical letters for salary increase programs and lead implementation process.
- Maintain consistent historical logs and archive appropriately.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of federal, state, local, CSU System, and collective bargaining compliance requirements related to faculty compensation, along with a solid foundation in human resources practices. They bring operational and analytical expertise, including proficiency with PeopleSoft HR systems, and demonstrate the ability to research, develop, and evaluate policies using data-driven insights. Highly organized and proactive, they excel at anticipating and resolving problems, managing multiple priorities, and leading collaborative processes with excellent interpersonal skills. Strong analytical abilities, computer proficiency (including Microsoft Excel), and exceptional verbal and written communication skills enable them to interpret and present data effectively. With proven leadership and time management skills, they can independently plan, organize, and execute complex tasks while fostering teamwork and ensuring operational efficiency.

Education and Experience
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field and three years of related experience required.
- Experience in human resources, higher education, and/or faculty compensation preferred.
- Experience entering, reviewing, auditing, and reporting data preferred.
Physical Summary
- Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,687 - $5,950 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,687 - $11,223 per month.
Time Base
1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment
This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
