Job Description: Reports to the Assistant Director, Gift Management. This role is responsible for the complex processing and distribution of University gifts received through various channels.
In addition to general gift processing, you will manage the analysis and processing of high-value and complex assets, including transfers of securities, gifts-in-kind, and gifts or pledges of $10,000 or more, including those from donor-advised funds and foundations.
This position also serves as the primary lead for processing matching corporate gifts, navigating complex online portals, and liaising with fundraisers and corporations to ensure BC adheres to all matching gift guidelines and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Entry and reconciliation of large gifts, securities, pledges, and third-party payments.
- Responsible for matching gift processing, which involves managing multiple logins for various matching gift portals, sorting consolidated wire transfers, and calculating applicable fees.
- Scrutinizes all gifts, including matching corporate gifts, for proper processing, reconciles batches, processes, and archives transactions from telemarketing and fundraising websites.
- Serves as the point person for donors regarding tax receipts and matching gift restrictions.
- Train new and temporary employees on gift processing functions and data standards.
Decision Making and Problem Solving:
- Prioritization of key constituent, high-value, and high-touch gifts for immediate processing.
- Research and evaluation of complex gifts, gifts-in-kind, and securities.
- Oversee the calculation of allowable gifts related to Athletic seating requirements.
- Respond to calls and emails from fundraisers, donors, campus partners, and external partners regarding gift processing, matching gifts, and receipting.
- Contact donors regarding numerous issues, including declined credit cards.
- Creation of new online matching gift confirmation accounts.
- Direct involvement with third-party vendors.
- Direct contact with the Controller's Office, when applicable.
Functional and Technical Competencies:
- Maintain highly detailed and confidential work.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Basic knowledge of Accounting.
- Supervisory support for temporary and student staff.
- Extensive knowledge with MS Office components, Google Suite, strong Excel skills, and experience with Blackbaud CRM reporting and query functions.
The salary range for this position is listed below, with the final salary based on various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and internal equity considerations: Sr. Gift Processing Specialist: $46,600 - $58,250
Requirements
A high school diploma is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of progressively responsible experience working with financial and accounting data. Prior experience with charitable gifts under $10,000, along with a foundational understanding of accounting, is preferred.
A successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to process gifts in a timely and accurate manner while meeting obligatory deadlines. Dependability is essential to ensure consistent data input and output.
Candidates should possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage highly detailed, confidential work both independently and as part of a team.
During the crucial calendar year-end period, Gift Processing staff will often work on days when the University is closed to process and acknowledge gifts in accordance with professional and legal requirements. At fiscal year-end, another demanding period of the year, vacations and scheduled time off are not usually granted (May through mid-June).
