Senior Laboratory Technician

Are you someone who is practical, enjoys working with people and loves variety? We have a great opportunity to join our School of Veterinary Medicine, based within the University of Surrey, in our state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities.

The School of Veterinary Medicine is a truly inspirational and fascinating environment to work in. Delivering teaching to over 750 undergraduate students training to be the veterinary professionals of the future. The research of our academic colleagues focuses on ‘One Health, One Medicine’ and understanding the factors which impact the health of both animals and humans. With investment of over £40m, our facilities and those of the wider University present a wonderful backdrop for the right person to contribute to wider society and develop their skills and career.

The role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Laboratory technician to lead the technical support within our Veterinary School Teaching laboratories. This vital role ensures the smooth operation of our teaching laboratories and contributes directly to the delivery of high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. In this fast-paced environment there’s lots of variety, lots of interaction with veterinary school students, academics and technicians.

About you:

You will have:

  • Experience in managing a laboratory or teaching environment.
  • Specialised knowledge of laboratory safety and experience writing SOPs and RAs.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to working with academic and professional services colleagues.
  • A passion for supporting veterinary education and a commitment to continual improvement.
