  • Starting salary: Level C $142, 300 per annum plus 17% super or Level D $170,582 per annum plus 17% super

About You

You are a knowledgeable academic with an established research portfolio in midwifery or similar fields. Your passion for teaching, strong communication skills, and technical knowledge allow you to effectively engage students through various methodologies and deliver strong teaching outcomes. You are committed to the advancement of the midwifery profession and contributing to a broader academic team.

About the Role

As the Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Midwifery, you will be responsible for the development, delivery, and coordination of courses within undergraduate and postgraduate Midwifery programs. You will make a significant research contribution in related areas and carry out activities to maintain and develop scholarly, research and/or professional activities. The Associate Professor of Midwifery will also make an outstanding contribution to the academic leadership of the Academic Unit’s teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, while also enhancing the national research profile of the Academic Unit.

The decision to appoint at the Level C or D will be dependent on performance during the recruitment process.

To be successful you will need

Both Level C & D

  • Registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and Doctoral degree qualification in a relevant health discipline
  • Extensive experience teaching and coordinating undergraduate, preregistration, and postgraduate midwifery programs

Level C

  • Extensive clinical midwifery experience across a range of care settings, with a strong understanding of contemporary midwifery practice, professional standards, and priorities that support safe, woman-centred care
  • An established portfolio of research that enhances the profile of Midwifery and the Academic Unit
  • Experience in curriculum development, course design, course writing, and academic leadership

Level D

  • Demonstrated expertise, knowledge and contribution to the discipline of Midwifery at a national level
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of academic leadership to develop a culture of teaching and learning excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance the research profile of the Academic Unit through collaborative research and to publish research findings
