Position Details

About the Role:

Flinders University is seeking academic leaders in nuclear engineering. The College of Science and Engineering is seeking a Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor to drive excellence in research, teaching, and strategic collaborations that make a real impact both nationally and internationally.

Depending on your career stage, you will:

  • Lead high-impact research in nuclear engineering.
  • Deliver innovative, future-focused teaching and supervise HDR, Honours, and WIL students.
  • Design and coordinate curriculum and contribute to academic standards.
  • Secure research funding and grow partnerships with industry, government, and global collaborators.
  • Mentor and support Early and Mid-Career Researchers.

This position is open to national and international candidates, and relocation and visa support is available.

About You:

You are an innovator, mentor, and trailblazer in nuclear engineering. Your career reflects research excellence, bold thinking, and a commitment to building capability in others. You lead with integrity, communicate with influence, and thrive in environments where engineering solutions improve communities and the planet.

Depending on your career stage, you will bring:

  • Completion of a PhD, or equivalent qualification in nuclear engineering and/or nuclear physics.
  • A strong research profile in nuclear engineering
  • Experience in teaching, curriculum design, or academic coordination
  • A track record of student supervision and mentorship
  • Evidence of external funding success or research momentum

This position may require the successful applicant to hold (or be eligible to obtain) an NV1 (Negative Vetting Level 1) Security Clearance.
