About the opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Health and Biomedical Sciences to join the multidisciplinary School of Health Sciences. The teaching activity for this role will focus primarily on Laboratory Medicine subject areas with some engagement in other biomedical science areas as required. The incumbent will be expected to undertake teaching and administrative duties in the School related to health and biomedical science units at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of teaching materials and student assessment utilising emerging technologies. Delivery of the course requires maintenance of close partnerships with industry, government agencies, health and education sectors, and cross-Academic Unit expertise in a key discipline area such as anatomical pathology or similar.

The appointee will also contribute effectively to the research efforts of the School in the areas of improving “healthspan” and the prevention and management of chronic diseases with specific focus on cardiovascular and/or cardiometabolic health or neurodegenerative disease. An important responsibility of this position is to lead new research initiatives support the research capacity building in health and biomedical science in Launceston, and the supervision of Honours and Higher Degree students.

What you’ll do:

  • Scholarly coursework teaching, unit coordination, development of teaching materials, and assessment.
  • Lead and publish high-quality research and secure research funding.
  • Facilitate and lead quality work-integrated learning (WIL) experiences for students.
  • Successfully supervise research higher degree students to completion.
  • Develop and maintain productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally.

What we’re looking for:

  • Extensive experience in university level curriculum development and high-quality coursework learning & teaching.
  • Experience in facilitating quality work-integrated learning for students.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills to build effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • A record of internationally recognised biomedical science research.
  • Expertise in anatomical pathology and a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • A current driver’s license.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $184,076 comprising base salary within the range of $138,536 to $157,330 plus 17% superannuation.
