Senior Lecturer in Industrial Computer Science

The role

The School of Computer Science at the University of Bristol seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Industrial Computer Science to act as academic industry lead within the School. This is a strategic leadership role focused on delivering cutting edge industry education and project skills to our talented students, strengthening our engagement with industrial partners, enhancing graduate employability, developing student and staff entrepreneurship, and aligning education and research with rapidly evolving cutting edge computer science innovations. Working closely with the Head of School and academic and professional colleagues across education, research and impact, you will shape and drive education and partnerships spanning the full range of CS disciplines, formulating and driving forward the School’s industrial strategy.

What will you be doing?

Working with professional services colleagues in the School and Faculty, you will deliver pivotal teaching that brings together industry partners and student projects; establish and support the School’s Industrial Advisory Board; lead placement, internship and year-in-industry opportunities; and influence our education to align the curriculum with industry-leading tools and practices. You will promote AI literacy, professional skills development, and international employability, championing student entrepreneurship, staff spinouts and research impact. The role requires coordination within the beyond the School to consolidate employer relationships and enhance students’ transition into a competitive graduate market. You will also have the opportunity to explore entrepreneurial ambitions for yourself and others as part of the School’s participation in the new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus.

You should apply if

You have a strong track record in cutting-edge computer science or related fields, alongside substantial experience of industry collaboration, knowledge exchange or entrepreneurship. You will bring credibility with employers, experience of building strategic partnerships, and an understanding of labour market trends in computing. Leadership experience, excellent education and communication skills, and your commitment to student employability and inclusive innovation are all important.
