The School of Graduate Studies (GS) was established to strengthen the central support for postgraduate programmes and monitor their quality. The GS offers postgraduate programmes up to doctoral level in various disciplines and provides professional education. It has a wide research and teaching scope and knowledge transfer programmes that promote interdisciplinary teaching and research related to policy studies and management, health and well-being studies, higher education, and urban studies.

The GS is searching for staff who can teach subjects at postgraduate level, including:

• Gerontechnology and social innovation
• Health and social services management
• Social determinants of health and well-being
• Ageing and society

The appointee will be expected to (a) engage in teaching and learning activities; (b) support academic programme management; (c) organise research events and experiential learning activities (e.g., conferences, seminars and student field trips); (d) play a liaison role between the GS and industry practitioners/institutions in areas of gerontechnology, policymaking, and social services; and (e) contribute to other administrative duties as required by the supervisors.

General Requirements

Applicants should have (i) a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline such as social and public policy, public health, sociology or social work; (ii) substantial relevant work experience in teaching and knowledge transfer activities, and some experience in conducting academic research; (iii) good interpersonal, organisational and communication skills; and (iv) good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in organising or coordinating student internships.

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. Appointment will normally be made on a fixed-term contract of up to two years.
