About This Opportunity

We are offering an exciting and rare opportunity. As second-in-charge of EAIT Advancement, the Senior Manager, Advancement and Development) will work closely with the Associate Vice-President (Advancement) in relation to planning and implementing Faculty advancement and community engagement strategies. This role is designed to increase philanthropic support for the Faculty’s key strategic research and student-facing objectives and engage alumni and friends to enrich the experience of communities within EAIT’s Schools and Institutes. In this role you will lead the alumni and community engagement strategy and will be the conduit between the central Alumni portfolio and internal Faculty portfolios while managing a suite of major gift prospects/donors to secure philanthropic support.

Serving as an ambassador for the Faculty, you will supervise and lead the strategy for all Advancement events for the EAIT Faculty.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and management: Collaborate across the Faculty and University to strengthen alumni, industry, and donor engagement and support advancement goals. Assist the Associate Vice-President (Advancement) in developing and stewarding donor, industry and alumni relationships, oversee key alumni committees, and act as a liaison between volunteers and leadership. Deputise for the Associate Vice-President (Advancement) when required and lead the planning and delivery of major EAIT alumni and community initiatives aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Philanthropy: Manage a portfolio of individual and corporate major gift prospects ($50,000+), cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors while progressing them through the donor journey. Identify new prospects through UQ networks, meet key performance indicators for donor engagement and fundraising outcomes, and support the Associate Vice-President (Advancement) in advancing the Faculty’s philanthropic strategy and partnerships.
  • Alumni & Community Engagement: Lead alumni and community engagement strategies that support EAIT’s strategic and fundraising goals. Develop tailored communications, build relationships with alumni, industry, and community partners, and encourage volunteer involvement. Collaborate with Faculty and University teams to coordinate engagement initiatives, maintain accurate CRM records, and support alumni recognition.
  • Staff management: Supervise the Senior Advancement Coordinator, managing workloads, performance reviews, and staff development, and approve timesheets, leave, overtime, and allowances.
  • Budget management: Manage the budget for alumni and community programs, working with the Associate Vice-President (Advancement) to plan and monitor EAIT Advancement finances and develop budget-aligned proposals for engagement initiatives.
  • Travel and out-of-hours work: International and interstate travel may be required occasionally, and work outside normal hours, including weekends, may also be necessary.

About You

Essential

  • Postgraduate qualifications with extensive (a minimum of five to eight years of progressively responsible) fundraising and/or alumni relations, stakeholder engagement and management expertise, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training (higher education exposure preferred).
  • Substantial fundraising experience in roles that demonstrate successful outcomes in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship or significant donor relationships (individuals and/or corporate), including experience in closing five and six figure gifts.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in organising and executing donor and alumni events and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively liaise with senior executives and high-net-worth individuals to influence and drive fundraising strategies, and excellent qualities in negotiation, tact and discretion.
  • Organisational and administrative skills with the demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, to work under pressure and effectively prioritise, with high level accuracy, attention to detail and personal integrity.
  • A good understanding and awareness of the operational environment within and outside UQ and current issues in Australian and International Higher Education.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management expertise, with the ability to organise workloads/projects and motivate staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to deliver group presentations, lead meetings and liaise with people at all levels, ability to draft a range of communications for a variety of audiences, including persuasive writing and incorporating storytelling and a strong focus on high level service provision.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, including sound judgement, the ability to make timely decisions and create innovative solutions/approaches.

Desirable

  • Experience using Raiser’s Edge/Salesforce donor and alumni database or similar.
  • Experience using Cvent and Vision 6 for event and EDM management, or similar.
