Projects fall into the broad categories of either research-related projects or institute program/operations-related projects:

  • Research-related projects include proposal development to secure new interdisciplinary research projects (pre-award), as well as projects that have already secured funding (post-award). The SPM will work with the principal investigator (PI) and the proposal team to develop a communication plan, manage writing assignments, ensure that all parts of the proposal are making sufficient progress, and that the proposal scope is aligned with the sponsor needs detailed in the solicitation. When Institute programs are new they are initially managed as projects, until they are refined and incorporated into ongoing business operations. Institute program-related projects that are completed will be integrated into the institutes operational processes using standard operating procedures (SOPs) written by the SPM. For new institute services program-related projects, the SPM will lead the development of project plans with input from TDAI staff. • Agreements and Contracts: The SPM will establish a structure and database for all TDAI internal agreements and external contracts. They will draft new agreements and/or contract terms, and will shepherd these through internal university processes. On fully executed agreements, the SPM initiate projects and will track progress on milestones/deliverables and reporting, and will close-out projects upon completion.
    • Reporting: The SPM will work with TDAI staff to ensure metrics of success for each functional areas projects are being assessed and tracked quarterly. They will create dashboards and visualizations that will be used to monitor TDAI project progress and metrics.
