Position Summary

The Senior Recruiting & Admissions Specialist fosters student achievement from the prospective student stage through graduation, serving as a guide, resource, and advocate at every step of the academic journey. This role connects prospective students with the college through recruiting and admission efforts, supports enrolled students in academic and career development, and facilitates successful transitions into the workforce or transfer institutions. The Senior Recruiting & Admissions Specialist serves as a visible, approachable ambassador for the college in the community and on campus. This person is also expected to have a working knowledge of all student and academic support areas of the College and be able to assist in other areas as needed. The Senior Recruiting & Admissions Specialist must be oriented toward teamwork and collegiality and possess the willingness to work flexible hours as this position requires regular participation in on- and off-campus workshops/events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Guide students through career exploration resources and assessments, including assistance with career interests/programs of study, job search preparation, resume writing, interview skills, and application completion. Support students through the transfer process, including admission and scholarship assistance.
  • Provide support and assist students in the areas of admissions and student records including, but not limited to, admission applications, registration, schedule changes, transcripts, and scholarship applications. Assist with processing admission documents and help students via telephone, email, live chat, and walk-in office traffic. Proctor Accuplacer placement assessment as needed.
  • Engage prospective and current students through outreach at recruiting events, college/career fairs, scholarship presentations, and community activities – both on and off campus. Manage the coordination and scheduling of campus tour visits. Utilize CRM software for admission and recruiting event management.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of all major duties related to recruiting and admissions & records. Train and mentor other staff as needed. In the absence of the Director of Admissions & Recruiting, assist other staff and make sound decisions concerning all recruiting, admissions, and records operations.
  • Foster a customer service environment for fellow employees, students, and visitors. Be an Ambassador for the College. Support the Colleges initiative to maximize retention of current students and enable students to finish their collegiate goals.
  • Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the College.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as position requires occasional participation in off-campus and/or weekend workshops/events
  • Occasional overnight travel is required to attend events, activities, professional development trainings and/or meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of student records as mandated by FERPA and institutional policies
  • Exemplify quality customer service
  • Possess effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve with appropriate cognitive ability
  • Ability to perform essential job functions accurately with minimal direct supervision.
  • Experience working with computers and various software applications

Qualifications

The Senior Recruiting & Admissions Specialist is required to have a Bachelor degree or higher from an accredited institution. Required three years of work experience in recruiting or student admissions at Snead State Community College.
