- Remuneration: $138,193 to $156,633 pa (HEW8) (inclusive of $116,774 to $132,357 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
- Location: Gardens Point (hybrid option available)
- Open to: Current staff members of QUT who have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the fixed-term appointment. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join Research Infrastructure, Research Portfolio, Academic Division.

The eResearch facility collaborates with researchers and external clients to create customized solutions. The role involves managing system upgrades, participating in new projects, and implementing diverse solutions and technologies. Responsibilities include developing training programs, overseeing project management, addressing governance and privacy challenges, and maintaining data security standards. The Facility supports researchers in data management planning, sharing, and preservation, while working with various stakeholders to achieve eResearch objectives. Additionally, it focuses on the development, implementation, and maintenance of advanced eResearch software, platforms, and infrastructure ensuring availability of high-performance computing resources and data management systems..
What you need to succeed
- Education, training and/or experience equivalent to the completion of postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience, with proven software development expertise in an information technology area.
- Demonstrated software development and web development experience with web frameworks (like Django, Flask, Express, Spring Boot), relational databases, front-end technologies (like HTML/CSS/JS, React, Angular), statically typed languages (like TypeScript, Java), and Unix/Linux systems.
- Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code (like CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform, Ansible), containerisation and orchestration, NoSQL technologies, version control, configuration management, build systems, and continuous integration and continuous delivery.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and client service skills including the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience performing code review, writing documentation, designing tests, deploying and delivering software projects, and following an iterative development approach.
- Excellent track record in time and organisational management, resulting in delivery of competing priorities in a timely manner.
