Why Your Role Matters

Are you passionate about making complex systems work better for people—and do you bring hands-on experience with student systems in a higher education environment?

Join our Student Systems, Projects and Innovation team and play a key role in shaping and supporting the core student systems and their integrations that underpin the student experience.

In this role (internally called Senior Business Systems Specialist), you’ll balance hands-on system development with business-as-usual (BAU) operational support, working closely with business and technical stakeholders to maximise value, performance, and return on investment. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the delivery, support, and ongoing improvement of core student information systems
  • Partner with Product, Project, and Change Managers to prioritise work and deliver outcomes
  • Translate business needs into clear system requirements and backlogs, considering risks, impacts, and priorities
  • Provide expert advice on system capabilities, constraints, and best use
  • Contribute to major projects, ensuring high-quality, fit-for-purpose delivery
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve system efficiency, quality, and responsiveness
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of system integrations, data flows, and dependencies across the student systems landscape
  • Support strategic planning through reports, briefings, and stakeholder communication
  • Apply and shape policies, procedures, and governance related to managed systems

Who you are

You’re an experienced systems specialist with a deep, practical understanding of student systems in higher education, including how they integrate and support end-to-end business processes.

You may have built this experience either by working directly on student systems in a systems or technical capacity, or through roles in student records, academic administration or similar areas where you’ve developed deep hands-on system knowledge and are looking to transition into a more systems-focused role. You bring sound judgement, attention to detail, and the maturity to work through complex environments with competing priorities. You bring:

  • Proven experience with student systems in a higher education environment (essential)
  • Understanding of student domain area processes and information management systems
  • Understanding of system integrations, data flows, and how systems support end-to-end processes
  • Ability to work across business and technical teams to deliver effective system outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and improve systems and processes, and deliver continuous improvement
  • High attention to detail, particularly in data, processes, and policy application

Candidates will need to have full working rights – this role is not available for sponsorship. All candidates will also need a valid work with children check and police check.
