Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost

Thomas Edison State University (TESU) invites nominations and applications for the position of Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost (SVPP). Thomas Edison State University is a nationally recognized leader in providing flexible, high-quality, and innovative education for self-directed adults. TESU administers nearly all its programs online and offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs through its five Schools. Students learn with mentors who are subject matter and industry experts and who engage students through a scholar-practitioner model.

Reporting to University President, Dr. Merodie Hancock, the SVPP will serve as the chief academic officer and key member of TESU’s executive leadership team. This is a pivotal role for a forward-thinking, entrepreneurial, and collaborative leader who can shape the future of academic programming and student success at one of the most innovative institutions in higher education. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026.

TESU seeks an inspiring, forward-thinking, and entrepreneurial leader to guide the University toward a dynamic and successful future. The new SVPP will value and understand adult and online learning, AI learning integration, workforce-aligned programming, and will bring a creative mindset to non-traditional assessment practices for TESU’s diverse student population. An earned doctorate from an accredited university as well as senior level academic leadership experience are required.

The search for TESU’s next SVPP is being assisted by Academic Search and is being led by Managing Director and Senior Consultant, Cynthia Patterson.
