Job Description Summary:
The Simulation Technology Specialist I provides technical and operational support for the School of Nursing's Simulation Program. This role ensures the smooth execution of simulation-based learning by managing high-fidelity manikins, task trainers, audiovisual systems, and related technologies. The Specialist collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to deliver safe, realistic, and high-quality simulation experiences. This position requires full-time, in-person work on campus.
Job Description:
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Simulation Operations & Technical Support - 60%
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot simulation equipment including manikins, task trainers, and virtual platforms.
- Set up, reset, and maintain simulation environments to reflect clinical scenarios, including props, moulage, and medical supplies
- Provide technical support before, during, and after simulation sessions.
- Record, edit, and manage audiovisual content using platforms such as SimCapture, B-Line, and other AV systems.
Equipment Maintenance & Inventory Management - 10%
- Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on simulation equipment; coordinate external servicing when needed.
- Monitor inventory of consumables and equipment; reorder supplies as necessary.
Collaboration & Training - 15%
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to design, test, and implement technical components of simulation scenarios
- Train faculty, staff, and students on the use of simulation equipment and audiovisual systems.
Program Development & Quality Improvement- 15%
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for simulation operations.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices in simulation education.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and special projects aligned with the Simulation Program's mission.
Working Conditions
- This position requires occasional evening or weekend hours to support academic schedules.
- Can lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Hands-on work with medical equipment, audiovisual systems, and computer technologies.
Required Qualifications
Work Experience
- 4 year of experience with audiovisual systems and computer networking. Education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- 1 year of experience with healthcare simulation equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare or technical discipline
Work Experience
- 1 year of experience in healthcare simulation operations, nursing education, or clinical healthcare settings
- 1 year of experience with simulation platforms and tools such as Laerdal, SimCapture, VR/AR technologies, or learning management systems
- 1 year of experience in setting up clinical environments and applying moulage techniques
- 1 year of experience supporting technical systems used in simulation-based education
