Social Science Research Coordinator

The School of Humanities and Sciences (H&S) is the foundation of a liberal arts education at Stanford. The school encompasses 24 departments and 25 interdisciplinary programs. Stanford SPARQ, a research center in the Department of Psychology at Stanford University, has an opening for a full-time Social Science Research Coordinator (SSRC). Stanford SPARQ is a behavioral science “do tank” that builds research-driven partnerships with industry leaders and changemakers to address some of the biggest challenges of our time. We work across a variety of areas, including criminal justice, economic mobility, education, health, media, and technology. Our Faculty Co-Directors are Dr. Jennifer Eberhardt and Dr. Hazel Rose Markus; our Executive Director is Dr. MarYam Hamedani. This position will start in the summer of 2026 and last for one year with the possibility to extend the position for a second year contingent on strong performance.
The position is an excellent fit for recent graduates looking to strengthen their research skills before applying to graduate school or working in a research role in industry, government, or the nonprofit world. Applicants should be highly motivated and organized, have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, have a strong desire to develop their research skills, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team. Successful candidates will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in psychology, data science, or a related social science field and significant experience with social psychology research and methods.
This is a 100% FTE, 1 fixed term non-exempt position. This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid of working on-site and off-site), subject to operational need.

CORE DUTIES:
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the center’s day-to-day operations and research activities
- Selecting, training, and mentoring undergraduate research assistants
- Organizing and facilitating undergraduate lab meetings
- Designing and running studies, including creating/managing IRB protocols, programming online studies, coordinating participant recruitment and compensation
- Managing data storage and cleaning
- Organizing and preparing data for statistical analysis
- Preparing research presentations, reports, and papers
- Reviewing and editing manuscripts
- Designing resources and workflows to support lab activities and projects
- Managing SPARQ’s social media accounts and assisting with website maintenance
- Maintaining SPARQ’s office space, including ordering equipment and supplies
- Being the first point of contact for lab-related inquiries and questions

Minimum Education and Experience Required: Two year college degree and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in psychology, data science, or related social science fields.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- General understanding of scientific theory and methods.
- General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.
- Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.
- Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with human study participants.
Preferred qualifications:
- Previous research and/or work experience (experience during college counts!)
- Experience with research methods and statistics, data management, and statistical analysis tools (e.g., R)
- Familiarity with data collection tools and platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, Amazon Mechanical Turk, Prolific)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Excellent writing ability, in both academic and non-academic styles
- Close attention to detail balanced with ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
- Experience managing multiple, complex projects (of any sort) simultaneously
- Teaching or mentoring experience
- Experience with website design and management, including CMS platforms (e.g., Drupal, WordPress) and/or HTML/CSS
- Experience with Photoshop and other visual design tools
- Interest in conducting social science research to address real-world issues
- Interest in pursuing a PhD in social psychology or other social science fields
The expected pay range for this position is $29.24 to $34.89 per hour.
