The University of Maryland, Baltimore 's Psychiatry Addiction Research & Treatment Division has an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker. The Social Worker will collaborate with the Nurse Practitioner and other clinical team members to ensure referrals to care as well as documentation of program activities. Experience working in a setting that provides low barrier MOUD to individuals is strongly preferred.

The Baltimore Comprehensive Overdose Response to End the Epidemic (BCORE), a city-wide, multi-disciplinary collaborative, focuses on reducing overdose rates in Baltimore City. BCORE is a unique collection of clinical addiction and emergency medicine experts, community program leaders, emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, data scientists, and public health specialists who apply their broad expertise and deep knowledge of the City of Baltimore, while leveraging existing operational infrastructure, to implement a comprehensive set of services in Baltimore City that facilitates engagement and retention in treatment with medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD). BCORE employs a shared governance infrastructure that supports collective action and community engagement. BCORE is committed to developing and implementing interventions that are accessible and affordable, regardless of demographics, geography, or socioeconomic status. BCORE aims to reduce the rate of EMS response, decrease hospital utilization, improve the health of individuals and communities, and reduce deaths.

Primary Duties

  • Social Worker works under the supervision of a Social Worker (LCSW-C) and applies the theories, knowledge, procedures, methods, and/or ethics derived from a formal educational program in social work to restore or enhance social functioning of individuals, couples, families, groups, organizations or communities through assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and advocacy to maximize the individuals well-being.
  • Assess risk by screening and interviewing clients. Identify and construct service plans that best meet the clients' needs, and determine best resources available.
  • Develop plans by identifying programs and services available for a variety of client issues dealing with challenges, change, and crisis.
  • Maintain case history records and document client(s) progress. May perform chart reviews and generates notes on evaluations, therapy sessions, reports and other accountability measures.
  • Counsel individuals, groups, families, or communities regarding issues including mental health, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, child care, and/or medical care in accordance with licensure.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to others preparing for use of resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in Social Work.
Preferred Experience: Experience providing low barrier MOUD to individuals via the novel tele access line is strongly preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Licensed Master Social Work - (LMSW) in the State of Maryland.
Other: No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement.

Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. Hiring Range: $66,500 - 69,000, commensurate with education and experience.
