Sociology Instructor - Cape Cod Community College
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide instruction to students in Sociology course(s) during the Spring 2026 semester (January 20, 2026 - May 15, 2026). The instructor will teach one in-person section (on Tues/Thurs either at 9:30 am or 12:30 pm) of SOC106: Principles of Sociology which introduces basic sociological concepts, theoretical perspectives, and research methods. Topics include societies, cultures, social organization, social inequalities, social institutions, group behavior and the impact of globalization, population growth, and new technologies upon individuals and societies. Additional courses may be available in future semesters.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes.
- Select and develop appropriate materials for class use.
- Track and assess student progress.
- Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Post syllabus on Moodle Learning Management System.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Sociology or a closely related field with appropriate areas of concentration.
- College-level teaching experience in Sociology or equivalent.
- Experience using evidence-based strategies to support student success including frequent communication and active learning.
- Skill in using instructional technologies effectively to support the learning process.
- Experience teaching with a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles to ensure the classroom is designed for a diverse group of learners to succeed.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Teaching at the community college level.
- Skill using MOODLE or other Learning Management System (LMS) to support student learning.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay Scale. Part-time, non-benefited MCCC Unit position.
