Space Planning Officer

  • Reference number: 25718
  • Term: Ongoing, part-time basis (43.5 hours per fortnight)
  • Remuneration: $109,157 to $118,193 pa (HEW6) (inclusive of $92,239 to $99,875 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
  • Location: Kelvin Grove (hybrid option available)

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Space Planning Officer to join Campus Services, Administrative Division.

The Space Planning Officer is part of the Campus Planning team and will proactively contribute to the development and use of the University’s physical estate, ensuring it aligns with the University’s strategic vision, goals and priorities. The position will support the implementation of operational space planning solutions including preparation and upload of space planning data, as well as undertaking audits and analysis. The Space Planning Officer will engage and collaborate within Campus Services, assisting the Campus Space Manager in negotiations with organisational areas of the University to develop outcomes which meet their needs.

The Campus Planning team works with University stakeholders to develop short, medium and long-term strategies and plans for QUT campuses and deliver space solutions to meet growth and changes in our faculties and divisions. This includes strategies for campus experience, building occupancy, campus design, building development, leasing and capital investment, and the QUT Campus Master Plan..

What you need to succeed

  1. Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a degree in a relevant area with subsequent relevant experience.
  2. Demonstrated applied knowledge of campus and space planning activities, principles and systems to provide high quality space planning support.
  3. Well-developed interpersonal skills with the proven ability to collaborate and communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner.
  4. Demonstrated ability to use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to support the space management system.
  5. Demonstrated digital literacy skills including ability to effectively work with the Microsoft suite of products – specifically Excel and PowerBI - as well as corporate systems and other information sources to extract and interpret data.
  6. Proven ability to use initiative to solve problems, manage priorities to meet deadlines, and work productively within a team to support a wide range of stakeholders under minimal supervision. 
  7.  Demonstrated high level written communication skills including the ability to draft memoranda, correspondence, submissions and emails, and develop digital content with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
