The Career Services Specialist reports to the Coordinator, Career Services and is responsible for providing individual and group career services to community college students, prospective students, and college alumni. The Specialist will help individuals explore career and academic options, make decisions about their academic program of study and assist them with career planning. In addition, this person provides guidance and coaching through the use of educational and employment-related resources and activities to facilitate students’ successful transition from college to career. This is a full-time, grant funded staff position.

Min Salary: $51,292.31

Mid Salary: $57,703.85 We offer a competitive salary package that will be determined based on the candidate's experience level and qualifications related to the job. Compensation will be commensurate with your level of experience.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an institutionally accredited college/university

Education Preferred

  • Master’s degree from an institutionally accredited college/university in Counseling, College Student Personnel, Psychology, Student Services Administration, Higher Education, or related field.
  • Global Career Development Facilitator Certification

Experience Required

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a college or university Career Services office.

Experience Preferred

  • A minimum of two years of experience in a college or university Career Services office.
  • Experience communicating remotely using platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom
  • Experience making presentations, in person or remotely, and organizing campus or community-based events and programs.
  • Knowledge of career planning processes.

KSA Required

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills especially those in the areas of collaboration, empathy, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision making
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to engage in multiple projects at a time
  • Confident in public speaking and delivering presentations
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Time management
  • Dependability, creativity, and a strong work ethic
  • An inclusive student-centered philosophy of providing services and resources

KSA Preferred

  • Working knowledge of career exploration tools and resources
  • Ability to motivate and teach others
  • Understanding of familial and cultural influences on work roles and career choices

Department/Job Specific Requirements

The following (compliance) training is required and must be completed within the first 30 days of hire with annual refresher training thereafter: Ethics, Safety/Shooter on Campus, Personal Information Protection Training (PIP), Anti-Discrimination/Harassment & Title IX, Other training may be required as determined applicable.
