Job Summary

This role coordinates at least one financial aid program including work-study, Federal loans, verification and return of Title IV funds. Assists students with applying for and understanding how to receive financial aid.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements
• Creates reports, business correspondence, application forms, shipping tickets and other materials
• Files financial aid records and reports, posts information to records, sorts and distributes mail, answers telephone and performs similar duties
• Computes amounts, checks totals, and manages various financial aid reports to assist the director with financial aid programs
• Inputs and retrieves financial aid information in connection with the responsibilities of the serving financial aid students
• Processes student loan requests and complete verification processing for students selected for verification
• Provides office management duties for the director of financial aid
• Assists the department with its outreach and awareness efforts, including conducting financial aid presentations
• Interprets and follows prescribed procedures for the production of a large volume of work

Service Excellence
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
• Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College

Supervision
• Works under the general supervision of the Director of Financial Aid

Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Three (3) years of successful office experience that involved serving customers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or 60 college hours
  • At least one (1) year's working experience in a college or university financial aid department
  • Multilingual both verbal and written

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of higher education and college financial aid programs
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships including strong listening, verbal, and written communication
  • Skilled using computer applications and enterprise systems, including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
