Specialty Trades Technician
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Music seeks an outstanding piano technician to tune, voice, regulate, and repair all pianos in the School of Music inventory (151, which includes two harpsichords and one fortepiano), and to oversee all keyboard purchases, donations, and inventory surplus. This position is a key member of our technical staff and requires high-level training in a specialized skill working with high-end piano equipment.
Responsibilities include:
- Concert preparation of all concert grands before rehearsals and performances on a regular schedule, and as needed.
- Piano Maintenance and Repair in faculty studios, classrooms, ensemble rooms, and practice rooms.
- Management of the piano inventory.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four years of recognized professional experience in the field of piano technology that includes tuning, regulating, repairing and maintaining pianos for artist-level teaching and performance.
- Commitment to the care and maintenance needed for an educational institution’s piano inventory.
- Experience in tuning and maintaining concert instruments and establishing collaborative relationships with professional colleagues.
