• Base salary from $81,477 plus 17% superannuation contribution

About the position

La Trobe Sport oversees sports related facilities and grounds, and drives sport related programs and partnerships, to ultimately enrich a student’s time at the University through sport. The business unit collaborates across the University with sport related academics and other departments to support and enable, the best sport-related teaching and research, as well as student participation in sport and recreation. La Trobe Sport also oversees the active engagement of the wider community in the campus through the use of its sporting facilities and sport services.

• Responsible for the coordination of the Lifeguard and Duty Manager team. This includes the recruitment, onboarding, rostering, and training of all lifeguards.
• Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of La Trobe Sport facilities including pool operations, equipment management, and generally ensuring maintenance requests are handled in a way that maximises service quality, efficiency, and continuity.
• Responsible for implementing the policy and procedures ensuring compliance in emergency management.
• Assist with governance and compliance for accreditation programs, including FISU Healthy Campus and Life Saving Victoria’s Platinum Pool Program.
• Assist the Senior Operations Coordinator in managing the risk, occupational health and safety and environmental management systems within La Trobe Sport.
• Responsible for ensuring the performance of the cleaning contractors within La Trobe Sport facilities.
• Assist in the delivery of La Trobe Sport associated (internal and external) bookings and events, with an emphasis on operational excellence and risk management.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have

• Completion of an undergraduate degree or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
• Demonstrated ability to form a detailed knowledge of health, safety and risk management policies and the interrelationships between a range of policies and activities.
• Ability to innovate in the areas of facility management.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate contractors to ensure operational excellence.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, follow established procedures with limited supervision and contribute positively to an effective team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated customer service focus and solution orientated approach.
• Proven experience and success in developing staff performance through training.
• Relevant experience in working within a range of sport infrastructure operations, preferably within the university/ education sector and aquatic industries.
