Job Description:
Bellarmine University Athletics is searching for an Assistant Athletic Trainer.
Will report to the Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Wellness/Head Athletic Trainer. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will be responsible for:
- On-site care of Student-Athlete injuries/illnesses, including prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries
- Coordinate and implement prevention programs and strategies in conjunction with the Strength and Conditioning staff
- Electronic documentation of all patient encounters through injury tracking EMR
- Communicate with Team Physicians, other allied health professions, and coaching staff regarding injury status and treatment plan of Student-Athletes
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the athletic training room. Ensure that student-athletes use equipment and facilities properly, including adherence to Athletic Training Room time schedules and proper operating procedures
- Provide daily medical care for assigned student-athletes per the Athletic Training Department standard operating procedures
- Assist with filing and resolving issues concerning secondary insurance
- Perform administrative and other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Wellness/Head Athletic Trainer

Requirements:
- Evaluation, Treatment, and Rehabilitation of Student-Athlete injuries
- Work with Sports Medicine team to design and implement pre- and post-injury programs
- Travel with athletic teams as assigned and directed
- Critical thinking and independent decision making regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines
- Organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.
- Communicate effectively in high-stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, coaches, staff, and families.
- Ability to lift 80 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Qualifications
- BOC Certification
- Master's degree from a professional athletic training education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)
- Eligible for KY Medical State License
- Current Fist Aid and CPR/AED certification
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
